A windowsill is not a fixed thing. A plant that thrived in a certain window all summer can start to struggle in the same window come November, and nothing about your care has changed except the sky. Why the same window is not the same light
Two things shift across the year, and they compound. The first is day length: winter days are simply shorter, so the plant receives fewer hours of usable light between one dark evening and the next dark morning. The second is the sun’s angle. In summer the sun climbs high and its light is intense and direct; in winter it stays low on the horizon, its rays travel through more atmosphere, and the light that reaches your window is weaker and comes in at a slant. A south-facing window that blazed in June can become the best seat in the house by December precisely because the low winter sun now reaches deep into the room, while a bright summer window may barely register once the sun stops clearing the neighboring rooftop. There are also changes that have nothing to do with the season and everything to do with your particular room. A deciduous tree outside the window casts deep shade in summer and then drops its leaves in autumn, flooding the same window with light just as the sun weakens, so the two effects partly cancel. Curtains you close against summer heat, a blind you leave down, a new piece of furniture, or even a season’s worth of dust on the glass all quietly change what reaches the leaves. The seasonal light walk

Feeding follows the same logic. A plant that is barely growing in the dark months has little use for fertilizer, and feeding a dormant or near-dormant plant can do more harm than good. When to get help or stop
Stop the home experiment when the issue involves pet chewing or ingestion, pesticide exposure, heavy mold, severe allergies, unsafe infestation, or a plant that keeps declining after the basic setup is corrected. Moving with restraint
